Ruta Inti – An introduction

More than an expedition

“Ruta Inti is like a bubble of fresh air in your routine. It allows you to return to the simple values of life, which we often forget.

It’s a very intense month of life that you have to experience once in a lifetime.

It is also like a double journey: you travel on the road but also through your companions who come from everywhere.

To be honest, it’s been six months now and I still can’t quite explain what Ruta Inti is like. But one thing is clear: you have to experience it at least once in your life.”

What are we?

Ruta Inti is a non-profit association born in 2014 in Spain.

We are a project aimed at young people from 18 to 25 year-olds from all over the world, which each year travels during one month to a different destination performing an Expedition with more than 150 people. The journey takes place between the months of July and August.

During this time, the participants live an experience not only of adventure, but also formative, social and of self-discovery.

What do we do?

We empower young people through experiential training.

We give them the tools to understand and face the challenges that affect them.

We facilitate a transversal education where values such as respect, solidarity and responsibility will help them to be consistent with their natural and human environment.

Why do we do it?

Because it is a way of understanding travel and education. Besides, it is a way to learn about the development and construction of the planet.

This approach is inspired by UNESCO’s 2030 Goals, and we are committed to integrating ideas such as sustainable development, quality education and equity during our expeditions and training program.

How to participate?

On the one hand, if you are between 18 and 25 years old, you can apply as an expeditioner. On the other hand, you can also participate as part of the organization team (monitors, logistics, medical, academic, and communication departments); in this case, the only requirement is to be over 18 years old (and any specific requirements for each department).

In this link (in Spanish) we detail the whole process to submit an application within the deadlines established for this Expedition. If you want to participate as an expedition member, you will have to submit an assignment on one of the topics we propose. It will be evaluated anonymously and serves as a way to introduce the academic contents of the Expedition and to show the interest of future candidates, which allows us to ensure that the participants have a profile aligned with Ruta Inti and its principles.

This assignment must be done in Spanish, but as there are different modalities, some of them require minimum written expression (for example: sculpture, painting, music, etc.).

Is it necessary to speak Spanish?

Yes, although a basic level is enough. This means that it is necessary to be able to communicate sufficiently to understand the dynamics of the expedition and the indications of the organization team.

We believe that Ruta Inti is the perfect environment to develop and improve Spanish language skills, as the entire program is conducted in Spanish. In addition to the academic and adventure program, participants spend four weeks with Spanish speakers from all over the world.

During the journey, and if it is necessary, the organization team can give support in English to the participants.

Can I write to you in English to ask for more information?
